Click on the photograph titles to locate the positions on both 1933 & 2005 site plans. Historic Location '3' - Facing South-West The North East elevation of Borley Rectory which was actually the front of the house. The arched front doorway can be seen in the tower in the middle of the photograph. Just visible to the left of the front door behind the large tree in the foreground is the bricked-up ground floor dining room window. Compare this photograph with the ground floor plan drawn by Sidney Glanville during Harry Price's 1937/38 tenancy. The lighter area on the extreme right is the end wall of the Rectory Cottage which is obscured by trees in the modern photograph. (Photograph taken from The End of Borley Rectory by Harry Price [George G. Harrap & Co. Ltd., 1946])
Modern Location 'E' - Facing South-West The same view today taken by Eddie Brazil on a visit to Borley in 2003. The original drive gate in the above photograph was where the modern drive entrance is today.
Historic Location '4' - Facing West-South-West The eerie photograph below was taken in June 1937 by Sidney Glanville during the first month of the Price tenancy. Sidney was standing on the edge of the lawn next to the line of trees and foliage which separated the Rectory grounds from the road on his right. The modern boundary line between the two properties runs across the foreground of Glanville's photograph, which means Glanville was standing on the edge of the lawn and to the extreme right of Eddie's modern picture.
